Bring Europe To You!
After two hours you are finally assured that your family
has packed everything. The scramble in the morning is
slightly complicated by the fact that some essential
hygiene products must be unpacked and then repacked.
The cab is late. The 3 hours in the airport are intolerably
boring or inhumanely hectic. The flight is 6 hours in
coach-hell chained in front of a seat-kicking kid easily
five times more annoying than your own children.
Customs is a pain in the tail. Maybe a piece of luggage
didn't make it. The cab driver is rude. The desk agent at
the hotel is rude. Finally, you've made it to your
overpriced room overlooking a lovely alley in beautiful
Europe. Weather forecast - 1 full week of uninterrupted
rain.
If you haven't traveled to Europe, you're missing an amazing life experience. As the above
example implies, travel isn't always what we'd like it to be. Sometimes all the adventure is
just in getting there. The enjoyment of a Rhineland tour, Black Forest hike or stroll along the
river Thames comes with a few hidden costs, not the least of which is just getting there. In
today's tight economy, price is another factor that puts a fabulous getaway to the Old
Country out of reach for many of us. But if Mohammed can't make it to the mountain (or the
Smiths can't afford a trip to the Alps) why not bring the mountain to Mohammed?

When it comes to world travel, I'm a "foody." That is, I think one of the most critical
elements of a trip anywhere in the world is sampling the cuisine for which those places are
famous. For a fraction of the cost and effort associated with a trip to Europe you can sample
the flavor and feel like you're there with nothing more than a trip on the net and a few hours
at the grocery store and in your kitchen. Whether you create a multi-course, around-Europe
feast or just prepare a meal from every country you'd like to visit over several weekends, the
internet and your local gourmet grocer are your friends. Below are links to several great
recipes pulled from FoodNetwork.com. I've included courses and beverages from several
must-see countries in Europe that you could enjoy individually or as a full course spread
should you feel up to the challenge. The Sangria, soup and Schnitzel are absolutely
mouth-watering.
